Connect to Transform the World

For the past three years, CG Social Impact (CG) has been an implementing partner of the BASF "Conectar para Transformar" (Connect to Transform) call in Argentina.

The call seeks organizations that can create social and environmental projects aimed at promoting employability, scientific and environmental education, and the protection of natural resources and biodiversity.

This is the 7th edition of the call launched by BASF to encourage non-profit organizations, NGOs, and entrepreneurs to submit their projects until October 23.

The call supports and accompanies projects located in the municipality of Malvinas Argentinas, Buenos Aires province, and in the community of General Lagos, Santa Fe province. The selected projects will receive a fund of $2.4 million to execute the initiative starting in early 2024.

"BASF continues to support the communities where we are present through this call, which seeks to positively impact society with various social and environmental initiatives," comments Celeste Rodulfo, Corporate Communications Manager of BASF for Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

The program has already supported educational, social, and environmental initiatives of organizations such as Chicas en Tecnología, Libertate, Ciencia Divertida, Fundación Manos Abiertas, Colectando Sol, and L184, among others, which focus on grassroots development. In 2022, one of the awarded projects was LADRIREK, a cooperative dedicated to the production of ecological bricks, which promotes social and labor inclusion.

LADRIREK's enterprise is carried out in Malvinas Argentinas, where the cooperative is based. It aims to strengthen management and production capacity, and to consolidate and expand the business. In collaboration with the Patronato de Liberados, it facilitates the inclusion of vulnerable people, providing them with a dignified income and collaborating with those who leave penitentiary institutions and seek to reintegrate into society, prioritizing training and the inclusion of women. This work cooperative generates innovative production circuits that care for the environment and reuse materials. CG Social Impact supports the development of the cooperative and the execution of its winning project "Building the Future" thanks to BASF's support, which not only issues the call but also provides support to the winning projects for their proper implementation and continuity of the generated impact.

The call's guidelines emphasize promoting the circular economy, valuing diversity, involving volunteers, and strengthening local institutions.

CG supports BASF's social commitment strategies to expand the positive impact of the private sector by connecting responses to social challenges with corporate guidelines.

This program has already supported 74 projects since 2017 in three countries: Argentina, Chile, and Brazil. In 2022, more than 600,000 people were impacted by BASF's social commitment projects and initiatives in South America. "By promoting projects that make a difference in the surrounding community, we contribute to the generation of business opportunities and to the social and environmental development of the region," highlights Ivania Palmeira, Sustainability and Social Commitment Consultant for BASF South America.
