PAE SME Program: A SME training school

For the second consecutive year, CG Social Impact has been working alongside Pan American Energy (PAE) in managing the open training program of the PAE SME Program, which the company carries out to strengthen and empower local entrepreneurs and SMEs.

For the past 18 years, the PAE SME Program has strengthened the educational, social, cultural, and economic fabric to competitively strengthen the value chain and the business and labor community in Golfo San Jorge, Neuquén, Salta, and Buenos Aires, where PAE focuses its commercial and productive efforts.

The general objective is to promote environmentally sustainable economic and social development in the regions near the company's operations, through PAE's support of local value chains. The program promotes the development of products and services in the region; increases the number of local suppliers; enhances employability; professionalizes SME management by developing processes, products, and services; provides technical, financial, and commercial assistance; develops cooperation instruments with local and national public and private institutions to provide business networks with the capacity for long-term sustainability, expansion, and innovation; promotes local economic development and environmental improvement; and strengthens collaboration networks with institutions, suppliers, and local entrepreneurs.

Pan American Energy (PAE) is a leading global energy company in Argentina and the region. It is the main producer, employer, and private investor in the industry with a presence in Argentina, Bolivia, Mexico, and Brazil. It develops conventional, unconventional, onshore, and offshore oil and gas fields; owns oil pipelines, gas pipelines, oil terminals, and hydrocarbon-derived products; produces electricity and participates in the renewable energy sector. It was the first company to offer electric vehicle charging in the country.

The company promotes programs that improve the quality of life of communities near its operations, as well as the creation of strong and long-term bonds. In 2022, it reached more than 400,000 people with its more than 94 sustainability programs, accompanied by a network of 46 technical partners and 50 strategic partners. With a 20-year history, PAE develops the PAE SME Program.

The PAE SME Program has 6 strategic pillars:

  • Technical assistance to SMEs through technical consultancy, whether or not they are PAE suppliers.
  • Open training: courses and workshops aimed at various sectors and industries for different organizational levels. They include commercial and technical advice for finding new clients, applying continuous improvement techniques, digital tools, training in safety, health and the environment, human resources, among others.
  • Development of new entrepreneurs.
  • Development of goods and services: Projects for innovation, import substitution, and business association are promoted.
  • Access to financing.
  • Internationalization Program.

Since its inception, the impact of open training in the PAE SME Program amounts to:

In just the first quarter of 2023, more than 4,400 people enrolled in 67 in-person and online training sessions in the different locations reached.

For the CG team, it is a pride to accompany and manage the training pillar together with the PAE team, their technical partners, and strategic allies in the different provinces of the country.
